Corporate Workshops | A Day with Garcia Media

The first thing we try to get our corporate communications clients to understand is why their audience is not reading their materials.

The first thing we try to get our corporate communications clients to understand is why their audience is not reading their materials.

It’s a problem most communicators face, whether they are working for a newspaper, magazine, newsletter or web site. Our audience simply doesn’t have as much time to spend with our publications. They’re always on the go and meanwhile they’re bombarded with information from the moment their eyes open in the morning, to the moment they fall asleep. Radio, television, print, internet, junk mail, instant messages, billboards. With all this clutter, how can your very important information possibly reach them?

The answer is this: We simply have to work harder at creating and packaging our information. Doing it the way we learned to do it or have been doing it for years simply is not good enough anymore. The stakes are higher. The competition is growing. Communicators must be armed with the skills and knowledge to stay in the game and in front of their audience.

Garcia Media has spent three decades successfully developing storytelling strategies that help attract readers, and now in a new, efficient customized one-day workshop, we share these strategies, inspiring writers, editors and designers to create better and more effective print and web materials.

The eight-hour session works like this:

Morning: We review your product(s) together, analyzing the audience, format, content presentation, navigation and storytelling. We’ll look at examples of successful readership devices and discuss how they could be implemented. By mid day, we’ll have a target list of improvements that would help your publications.

Afternoon: We sit with your editorial and design teams and work through the list, implementing each improvement into real pages. By the end of the day, we’ll have a gallery of fresh, new looks to review and discuss with the team. And by the time we leave your team will have learned a new and exciting way to communicate, not only making their efforts more effective, but making the experience more challenging and rewarding.
