The new New York Times campaign

It is the new marketing for newspaper: selling the power of good investigative journalism. The Times is the latest to turn to that strategy for its marketing.

It appeared in my morning email. A note to the subscriber, from The New York Times.

Signed by Times CEO, Mark Thompson, President and Chief Executive, the note read in part:

 

 

I believe we are likely to see more such marketing strategies from newspapers globally, but, especially in the United States, where President Trump continues to wage a war with news people.

I am curious to see how much these subscription drives succeed as a result of the tug of war between the free press and a White House that is determined to undermine the work of journalists.
